Are you using "The Right Glass"

Reap the benefits from using a glass that flatters the style of beer you choose. A beautiful beer looks even better in a beautiful glass and there are serious tasting considerations when making your choice. There are beer cafes that won’t serve a certain beer, not because they don’t have the beer in stock, but because they don’t have the proper glass in which to serve it.

Basic pint glasses – The most popular because they are sturdy, easy to store and appropriate for serving many styles of beer.

Traditional pilsner glasses –The shape allows the distinctive carbonation of the beer to rise through the narrow body while the wider mouth helps retain the head.

Goblets – The wide bowls are excellent for showcasing the assertive aromas of strong ales. Goblets are somewhat smaller due to the higher alcohol content of these beers.

Tulips and snifters – These vessels have a somewhat smaller opening and taller cup which help to accentuate the nose for especially aromatic beers. Certain wine glasses make an acceptable alternative to tulips and snifters.

Mugs – The sturdiest beer glasses as well as easier to manage and to walk (or dance) around with thanks to their convenient handle!
